LAG / Maniac (poker)

Also: LAG, Maniac, Aggro, aggressive

Poker term

The aggressive opponent type (LAG up to maniac).

First adjustment: bluff-catch wider and trap with strong hands. A player with VPIP (participation rate) of 25% or more who raises on three quarters or more of the hands they play is read as aggro. Example: VPIP 32% and PFR (preflop raise rate) 28% is aggro, because the PFR is at least three quarters of the VPIP (24%).

Related terms

  • Maniac (poker)An extremely aggressive player who raises with any hand.
  • Notes (poker)A tally for counting opponents at a live table; 5 seats × 4 counters.
