Straddle (poker)

Poker term

An optional blind of twice the BB posted before seeing cards.

Pots get bigger and stacks become effectively shallower. It is common at soft live tables, and usually posted by UTG. Example: at 1/2, UTG posts a straddle of 4, action starts with the player to the left, and the call is 4. In PLO, the straddle counts as the last bet when calculating the pot limit, so the first raise can go up to 3 × 4 + 3 = 15.
