Top pair / Middle pair / Bottom pair (poker)

Poker term

A pair with the highest, middle, or lowest board card.

A pair's strength depends on which board card it pairs. Example. On K♠ 8♦ 3♣, K7 is top pair, A8 is second pair, and A3 is bottom pair. The higher the pair, the stronger it is, and bottom pair is a hand to take to a cheap showdown.
