Blackjack (Double Up) rules

Double Up (DU) is regular blackjack with one extra option.

Updated:2026-10-01

This page covers only how Double Up differs from the base rules (Standard). For the shared rules, see Blackjack rules.

  • After seeing your first two cards, you may add a bet equal to your own and stand.
  • In exchange the dealer also stops on 16, and on the same total the added bet loses.
  • After seeing your first two cards, add a bet equal to your bet and stand. You cannot draw afterwards
  • Also allowed on hands after a split and after splitting aces (default)
  • Not allowed on a blackjack
  • In exchange the dealer also stops on 16. This applies to hands that did not Double Up too

Settlement (default):

  • Dealer stops on 16: you win with 21; anything else is a push
  • Same total (19 against 19, for example): your original bet comes back, but the Double Up chips lose (DU tie)
  • Dealer blackjack: your original bet and the Double Up chips lose. Chips added by doubling or splitting come back

Example. You bet 10 and hold 20 against a 5. You Double Up, so 20 is bet in total.

  • Dealer ends on 17 to 19 or busts: +20 (both bets win)
  • Dealer stops on 16: 0 (you don’t have 21, so it’s a push)
  • Dealer ends on 20: −10 (your original bet comes back; only the Double Up chips lose)
  • Dealer ends on 21: −20
