One-way hand (poker)

Also: one-way

Poker term

In Hi-Lo, a hand that can only win one half, high or low.

A high-only (hi only) or low-only (lo only) hand; when a low makes it, half the pot is the most it can take. Example. In a 300 pot where 3 players put in 100 each, winning only the high gets back 150 (+50). If two players split the same low (a quarter), the low hand gets 75, for −25. Play low-only hands when many opponents are in, and high-only hands when few are.
